Santa Barbara Orchid Show

What better way to spend a Saturday in March then taking a coastal train ride to beautiful Santa Barbara? We motorcoach to L.A.’s historic Union Station and then journey along the coast aboard the train to Santa Barbara. This year celebrates the 62nd anniversary of the International Orchid Show – one of the most prestigious horticulture events in the world. Featuring over a half-acre of orchids, the festival provides a rare opportunity to see and buy an unprecedented number of different varieties of orchids in peak bloom. Enjoy hundreds of orchid varieties from all over the world displayed in beautiful settings and arrangements, along with ongoing orchid demonstrations, exhibitors, and a chance to purchase these exotic flowers. Lunch on your own in downtown Santa Barbara near State Street and Paseo Nuevo. We will motorcoach home.

Lunch and ample time at your leisure in downtown Santa Barbara along State Street and Paseo Nuevo, Santa Barbara’s Mediterranean-style shopping district. Explore, relax and enjoy yourself at your leisure. We will motorcoach home.


Wistaria Vine Festival

Sunday, March 14, 2010 (1 day)

Take part in this annual festival honoring Sierra’s Madre’s historic 250-ton, 115-year-old wistaria vine, “The Lavender Lady”. With over 1 million blooms, it is one of the “Seven Horticulture Wonders” and the ‘world’s largest blooming plant’. Get an up-close viewing of the Vine, and time to enjoy the festival that is located among the town’s shops, and features artisans, music, food vendors, and more. In 1918, 12,000 people attended the first public Wistaria Festival. Lunch on your own at the festival. After the festival, we will head to the L.A. Arboretum to enjoy a narrated tram tour to view their five timeless botanical gardens, natural ‘sag’ ponds and historic sites, like Queen Anne’s Cottage. Be sure to smile, you never know when a Hollywood movie might be filming on the grounds!


The Doctors Taping

Lights! Camera! Action! Be in the studio audience and see a live taping of The Doctors at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. From the creative team behind the long-running hit series Dr. Phil, The Doctors has become a hit and much talked about daytime talk show. On the show an entertaining team of top practicing professionals, each with a different specialty, discuss best medical practices and often times demonstrate medical procedures directly in front of the studio audience. You’ll see all the work that goes into taping a one-hour episode. Very interesting and educational! Prior, lunch on your own at L.A.’s Farmer’s Market or The Grove.


Long Beach for Locals

A new tour showcasing the best that Long Beach has to offer including a new amphibious duck tour. First, a private docent-guided tour aboard the historic Queen Mary where we’ll go behind-the-scenes and venture through parts of the ship that are not normally accessible to the public. Visit the First Class areas of the ship including the First Class lounge, smoking room, dining room and an actual suite. Learn about the ship's history – from glorious ocean liner to troop transport ship to her retirement in Long Beach Harbor. Then it’s time to take your seat aboard the newest adventure in Long Beach, a rubber duck tour highlighting the most interesting sights in the city from land and on the water. This open air amphibious vehicle provides for spectacular views as we take in the sights from a whole new vantage point. Enjoy an optional lunch with choice of entrée and dessert at the Bubba Gump Restaurant, located in Long Beach’s Pike at Rain Harbor district, or lunch on your own at the Pike’s eateries.

Lights! Camera! Action! Be in the studio audience and see a live taping of the Dr. Phil Show in Hollywood! Join us as we view the second most watched syndicated, daily one hour series in the nation! Dr. Phil has been making headlines since he appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show over 10 years ago. A unique opportunity to see all that goes on behind-the-scenes to create a one-hour talk show. After the show, we will make a stop at L.A.’s Farmer’s Market & The Grove where you can enjoy lunch on your own.
