  • A comprehensive and unique land tour led by an Alaskan native and featuring  the best of Alaska as it was meant to be seen – aboard a train, riverboat, cruise boat and motorcoach at a time of year when the weather is usually most favorable

  • In Denali National Park, search for grizzly bears, moose, and Dall sheep on a tundra wilderness tour; take part in optionals such as river rafting, jet boat safari, visit to an Iditarod dog kennel or flight-seeing Mt. Denali

Day By Day Itinerary:
Day 1
Friday, 9/1/2017 - Travel To Alaska
Optional transfers from your home or our departure points this morning will have you at Los Angeles International Airport for a flight to Anchorage, Alaska.  Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city and a surprising metropolis. Upon arrival, an included meet & greet and transfer to your downtown Anchorage hotel for an overnight stay.  
Day 2
Saturday, 9/2/2017 - Anchorage To Valdez
Following an included breakfast, depart the hotel with your local Alaskan tour director/local guide who knows Alaska inside and out. Today’s grand journey takes you to Valdez via the Matanuska Susitna Valley where world-record monster vegetables grow in the 24-hour daylight. Stop by Worthington Glacier for a look at this gigantic piece of ice!  In the early evening arrive in Valdez, nestled between the waterfront and mountains, giving it the nickname, Alaska’s “Little Switzerland.” Overnight in Valdez. 
Day 3
Sunday, 9/3/2017 - Valdez
Following an included breakfast, spend the morning exploring the quaint port community of Valdez, beginning with the Valdez Museum.  This afternoon, board a glacier and wildlife cruise and travel through the pristine waters of majestic Prince William Sound. Millions of years of glaciations gradually carved away a coastal plateau, creating many tributary fiords and passageways, islands and rocky shores. Explore the three-mile face of the mighty Columbia Glacier and hear tales of the region as told by the Alaskan crew. Keep your eyes open for an amazing array of wildlife including seals, sea lions, otters, whales and puffins throughout this half-day cruise with an included lunch onboard.
Day 4
Monday, 9/4/2017 - Valdez to Fairbanks
After an included breakfast, depart for Fairbanks, the largest city in Alaska’s interior. The route follows the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and skirts along Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest national park in the United States.  Arrive in Fairbanks this evening for a two night stay. 
Day 5
Tuesday, 9/5/2017 - Fairbanks
Following an included breakfast, you’ll learn how the gold rush affected Alaska’s interior on a sightseeing tour of the Fairbanks area. Located near the confluence of the Tanana and Chena Rivers, Fairbanks is Alaska’s second largest city  and is known to Alaskans as the “Golden Heart City.” An included visit to the Museum of the North at the University of Alaska. Enjoy time at leisure for browsing and lunch on your own in Fairbanks’ downtown area. This afternoon you’ll travel back to the time when traditional riverboats plied the waterways of Alaska’s interior during the late 1800’s. All aboard a steamboat for a 3-hour cruise on the Chena River to experience the thrill of river travel. Enjoy an included salmon bake dinner tonight.
Day 6
Wednesday, 9/6/2017 - Denali National Park
Following an included breakfast, travel south into Denali National Park. Denali National Park & Preserve features North America’s highest mountain – 20,320-foot tall Mt. Denali (formerly Mt. McKinley). The Alaska Range also includes a myriad of other spectacular mountains and many large glaciers. Enjoy the afternoon exploring this pristine area at your leisure by either participating in a complimentary park service activity or an optional tour. There are many activities to choose from, including mild or wild river-rafting, flight-seeing Mt. Denali, a jet boat safari on the Nenana River or a visit to the award-winning dog kennel of Iditarod champion, Jeff King. Arrive at your Denali accommodations in the Denali area later in the day. An optional dinner and show at the Denali Dinner Theatre is available. 
Day 7
Thursday, 9/7/2017 - Denali National Park
Following an included breakfast you’ll travel deep into Denali National Park on a Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the pristine wilderness for bear, moose, caribou and Dall sheep. This 6-8 hour narrated journey provides insight into the animals, flora and fauna of this spectacular region. 
Day 8
Friday, 9/8/2017 - Alaska Railroad
Following an included breakfast, travel by motorcoach to the climbing town of Talkeetna. You may catch a glimpse of the majestic Mt. Denali or black bears along the banks of the Susitna River. Enjoy time at leisure to explore this quaint Alaskan town. This afternoon board Deluxe Dome Railcars on the world-famous, Alaska Railroad and travel through some of the most scenic and rugged territory in Alaska to Anchorage. An optional dinner onboard the train. Tonight, begin a two night stay at a downtown Anchorage hotel. 
Day 9
Saturday, 9/9/2017 - Anchorage
This morning following an included breakfast, enjoy a guided driving tour of Anchorage. Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city and a surprising metropolis, including the historic downtown district. The town was originally settled in 1915 at the mouth of Ship Creek to support railroad construction. Anchorage has grown steadily to become the business, cultural and distribution epicenter of Alaska. Nowadays nearly half of Alaska’s 600,000 residents live in Anchorage.  An included visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, a gathering place that celebrates, perpetuates and shares Alaska Native cultures.  Tonight, an included farewell dinner.
Day 10
Sunday, 9/10/2017 - Journey Home
Your grand tour of Alaska comes to an end with an included transfer to the Anchorage Airport and a return flight to Los Angeles. Those with pre-arranged transfers will be returned to their respective drop-off destinations with incredible memories of a spectacular journey through Alaska.
