From our departure points this morning we travel by motorcoach across the expansive Mohave Desert to the bright neon lights of Las Vegas, with an included continental breakfast aboard the coach. Our beautiful and luxurious resort hotel is in the heart of the “Strip” and within walking distance of the newest hotels. Your tour director will be available to direct you to the perfect casino or show if you choose. | Breakfast | | | Day 2 | Monday, 10/25/2010 - Bryce National Park
Southern Utah has a treasure chest of scenic wonders. This morning, following an included breakfast, we leave the bright lights of Las Vegas behind and enter majestic geological wonderlands. Keep your camera ready as we drive through Utah and pass such spectacular spots as the Virgin River Gorge and the colorful mesas of Utah’s “Dixie Country.” As we make our way into Utah’s Canyon Country, hundred-mile vistas of rock formations that date back millions of years, offer a unique perspective of one’s place in time and space. Southern Utah lays claim to five National Parks, and today we’ll visit perhaps the most spectacular, Bryce Canyon National Park. The slow erosion of the land has resulted in fantastically sculptured rock formations resembling castle towers and cathedral spires. They occupy magnificent amphitheatres and canyons aglow in different colors as the sun casts its light upon them. Join your geologist guide to see and learn how the colorful spires, fins and pinnacles were created. Stay overnight just outside the Park, with an included dinner this evening. | Breakfast Dinner | | | Day 3 | Tuesday, 10/26/2010 - Arches National Park
This morning, following an included breakfast, we’ll say farewell to the colorful and whimsical formations of Bryce Canyon. We will travel across Utah into America’s Canyonlands and Arches National Park. This afternoon we’ll explore the Park and see extraordinary sights, including balanced rocks, contrasting colors and some of the more than 2,000 naturally-formed arches found within the Park’s 73,000-acre boundary. The Park is home to the largest collection of natural stone arches in the world, and you’ll be able to get up close to them on some easy walks with your geologist guide. This evening we arrive in the resort town of Moab, situated on the Colorado River, where we’ll spend the next two nights. This evening we’ll enjoy an included cowboy-style Dutch oven dinner on the banks of the Colorado River. Then, board a jet boat and take a leisurely cruise up the River with a local guide to hear of Indian legends, geology and history. As we float along this calm stretch of water, through a red rock canyon, the rock walls will come alive with light as music and stories are heard during a presentation known as Canyonlands by Night. | Breakfast Dinner | | | Day 4 | Wednesday, 10/27/2010 - Canyonlands National Park
Following an included breakfast this morning, we’ll explore the spectacular views of endless color and canyons at Dead Horse Point State Park. This promontory of stone, surrounded by steep cliffs, formed a natural corral for cowboys capturing the area’s wild horses. Dead Horse, located nearly 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, provides a breathtaking view of Canyonlands National Park and the surrounding landscape. We will then enter Canyonlands National Park – where lies a colorful landscape of sedimentary sandstones eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes along the Colorado River and its tributaries. This evening, a memorable included dinner and wine tasting at Red Cliffs Lodge. The Lodge sits high on the banks of the Colorado River, surrounded by red cliffs and situated where Western favorites, such as John Ford’s Wagonmaster, Rio Grande and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, were filmed. | Breakfast Dinner | | | Day 5 | Thursday, 10/28/2010 - Moab to Mesquite
This morning, following an included breakfast, we say goodbye to the majesty of America’s Canyonlands and depart Utah for Mesquite, Nevada. Stay overnight in Mesquite, a desert oasis offering lots of gaming action, a pool and spa, and a full service Spa – perfect for some relaxation and rejuvenation. | Breakfast | | | Day 6 | Friday, 10/29/2010 - Red Rock Canyon - Home
Following an included breakfast, our departure will have us arriving into Nevada’s colorful Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area later in the morning. You wouldn’t guess that you were just outside Las Vegas, while gazing upon the spectacular desert cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations here. Located where the southernmost tip of the Sierra Nevada converge with the El Paso Range, each tributary canyon is unique, with dramatic shapes and vivid colors. Stop at the Visitors Center and then make a visit to the Calico Vistas and Lost Creek Canyon. An included picnic lunch in the Park. This afternoon we continue our journey home, arriving back in southern California this evening. You’ll never forget your vacation through America’s colorful canyonlands that surely imprinted indelible images of majestic spires and dramatic landscapes in our memories forever. | Breakfast Lunch | | | | |
