This afternoon we travel to Bardstown, Kentucky for a tour of the “Bourbon Capital of the World.”  We’ll visit My Old Kentucky Home State Park, the Bardstown mansion that is as endearing to visitors as it was in 1852 when Stephen Foster was inspired to write the song that become Kentucky’s anthem.  Step into the days of the antebellum South as costumed guides provide a tour of this stately home. Later we’ll tour and taste at a bourbon distillery where you’ll learn to appreciate all the subtle flavors and aromas of true Kentucky bourbon.  We return to Louisville with the balance of the evening at leisure.

Following an included breakfast, we travel to Lexington, Kentucky, the home of the University of Kentucky and the center of American horse breeding. Racing has been a tradition here since 1780 and Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region has the world’s highest concentration of thoroughbred breeding farms in the world. A local guide will join us and provide a driving tour among the rolling hills and past the stunning farms surrounded by white picket fences. This time of year the Park should be brimming with color as fall foliage is normally at its peak. At the “Top of the Ole Smoky,” we’ll make a photo stop so that you can stand with one foot in Tennessee and the other in North Carolina. This afternoon we’ll visit Dollywood, the famous 88-acre theme park inspired by Dolly Parton and her love for the mountains, family and country music. The one-of-a-kind atmosphere here combines the charm and beauty of the Smokies with rustic architecture and thousands of flowers to provide a panoramic backdrop for live shows, hand-made crafts, delicious food, and much more. Don’t forget to check out the craftsman’s area, the Dolly Museum and take a train ride. After an included dinner at a locals’ favorite, we’ll take our seats at the Smoky Mountain Opry, Pigeon Forge’s biggest and best variety show. Showcasing the most talented collection of singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, jugglers and incredible aerialists, the Opry is an amazing show that will take your breath away!

Thursday, 10/26/2017 - Asheville and Pigeon Forge
Following an included breakfast at the hotel, our journey this morning takes us to Asheville, North Carolina where we’ll tour the spectacular Biltmore Estate. In 1880, the railroad came to the area and George Washington Vanderbilt purchased 125,000 acres and 15 years later had constructed the magnificent 250-room Biltmore estate, America’s largest private residence. You’ll tour the interior of this sprawling, 250-room, French Renaissance-style chateau, the stables and grounds and hear the stories of its former residences. See the priceless paintings and antiques, including Napoleon’s chess table. Tour the gardens which were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, designer of New York’s Central Park.  Enjoy lunch on your own at the Biltmore’s Stable Café. We return to Pigeon Forge for the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show. Become part of the longest running feud in history and help the Hatfields and McCoys try to settle their differences mountain-style. You’ll love the singing and dancing, mighty feats of strength, jaw dropping stunts and side-splitting comedy. And the country cookin’ – whooee it’s good!  Granny’s cookin’ up a heap of fried chicken and country pulled pork shoulder barbecue! Add smashed taters, creamy cole slaw, buttery corn on the cob, cornbread, creamy vegetable soup and Granny’s special dessert and you’ll need to loosen up your belt!
