| Nestled among a lush landscape and blanketed by walnut trees, the home of cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg is a spacious ranch-style home originally built in 1926. A docent-guided tour of his home which sites on hill overlooking the Cal Poly Pomona campus, will showcase the estate and the meticulous restoration it has undergone to return the interior décor and the gardens to its original splendor. The mixture of architectural styles creates a very charming, yet historic feel. There are many wonderful aspects of the Kellogg house to be seen: the outside garden terraces and courtyards, the Grand Room, the main dining room, and the kitchen. Following an included buffet lunch at the campus’ Kellogg West restaurant, we’ll take our seats for the Arabian Horse Show at the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center. This long standing tradition started by Kellogg himself in 1926 continues to showcase the versatility, beauty, and intelligence of the Arabian breed under both English and western tack. An included stop at the campus’ Japanese garden and rose garden – normally in full bloom this time of year. |
