Emergency! Be a first responder for this new adventure that celebrates our courageous police and fire heroes and the incredible history of the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments. At the Los Angeles Police Museum, we’ll learn about the rich, yet controversial, history of the Los Angeles Police Department while on a docent-guided tour that will showcase the variety of historic police vehicles, uniforms, badges, tools and other rare artifacts housed in the city’s oldest surviving police station. While the station was built in 1925, it was closed in 1983 and then ravaged by vandals, arson fires and water damage. However, the Los Angeles Historical Society salvaged and restored it to its original Renaissance-Revival style and the station is now a registered National Historic Landmark. Then, at the Los Angeles Police Academy in Elysian Park, we’ll enjoy an included buffet lunch at the Police Academy Café, as well as time at leisure to browse the gift shop and the charming rock garden where the babbling of the waterfall may be interrupted by the sound of a little gunfire! At the Los Angeles County Fire Museum, we’ll explore an extensive collection of fire apparatus, artifacts and photographs that tell the incredible story of L.A. County Fire. Docents here are retired firefighters that have so much to share about the rigs and apparatus which include the vehicles, apparatus and artifacts from the 1970s hit show EMERGENCY! as well as a horse-drawn steamer and hand-drawn pumper that were used in the 1860s. All the rigs here, from the late 1800s through the 20th century, are all shined up and ready for your inspection.
To ensure a healthy and enjoyable travel experience for our guests, this tour will operate with additional health and safety measures in place and require each guest show proof of vaccination and complete a Wellness Pledge.
