| We kick-off this popular holiday excursion at two charming destinations in Redlands, known as the “Jewel of the Inland Empire,” attributed to its beautiful architecture, small town charm, and agriculture influenced by the early citrus farmers. We begin at the historic Kimberly Crest Mansion, the stately mansion that overlooks the San Bernardino Valley. Built in 1897, it was owned by J.A. Kimberly – one of the founding members of the Kimberly-Clark Paper Company. A docent-guided tour of the mansion’s interior will showcase how a lavish, immaculately kept, French chateau-style home was decorated for Christmas during California’s Victorian era. This afternoon, we’ll enjoy an included tea lunch at Martha Green’s The Eating Room, a locals’ favorite known for their scratch-made comfort food. You’ll enjoy traditional tea blends imported from Britain, along with delicious homemade breads and finger sandwiches accompanied by all the “proper treats” including petite fours, scones and other sweet delights served on a three-tiered rack. While this tearoom follows traditional British preparation, it also stays true to its Southern California roots and keep things casual and “rustic” to ensure you can sip and talk in comfort in their quaint “country kitchen-esque” setting. We top off the day with an included sweet treat at Logan’s Candies, where the Logan’s family has been making their signature candy canes “the same way since 1933.” Purchase your fresh candy canes straight from the assembly line – different flavors and different sizes are available too – from 6 inches to 6 feet! This tour involves moderate walking and stairs to reach the second level of the mansion. |
